On Thursday, October 18th at 6:30PM EST, Medical Students for Life of America will be livestreaming the Fall 2012 National Medical Students for Life Tour stop at Loyola University- Stritch School of Medicine with Dr. Clem Persaud!
Dr. Persaud was born in Guyana, South America. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons), University of Ottawa, an M.Sc., McGill University and a Ph.D., University of the West Indies.
He was a Professor of Medical Microbiology and Biotechnology at Canadore College in Northern Ontario for 23 years. He has lectured, worked and researched in Microbiology nationally and internationally. In semi- retirement since 1999, he has devoted much of his time to stem cell issues, and has spoken often on bioethical implications. In December 2002, he gave expert testimony to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Health in relation to Bill C13; in February 2004, he was a member of a Senate appointed panel on embryo research in relation to Bill C-6. In 2005 – 2008, he was on a lecture tour of Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Costa Rica and Italy, speaking on bioethics, cloning and embryo research. He has lectured on Christian Worldview at YWAM, Switzerland. Clem is an Advisor to Medistem, an Arizona-based company that uses only ethical stem cells for therapy.
Then, on Friday, October 19th at 12:00PM EST, Medical Students for Life of America will be livestreaming the Fall 2012 National Medical Students for Life Tour stop at Wayne State University School of Medicine with Dr. Byron Calhoun!
Dr. Byron C. Calhoun, MD, FACOG, FACS, MBA is a diplomat of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified in general Obstetrics/Gynecology and the sub-specialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
He has authored 60+ peer review articles in the obstetric and gynecologic literature, presented 100+ scientific papers, participated in 40+ research projects, and published several articles on perinatal hospice. He is an original author of the perinatal hospice concept, which provides a multidisciplinary care to families with a lethal prenatal diagnosis.
Dr. Calhoun serves as Professor and Vice-Chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at West Virginia University-Charleston. He is also the National Medical Advisor for NIFLA, National Institute of Family and Life Advocates.
